How Autoinjector Pricing Works: Volume Bands, Incoterms and What Moves the Unit Price
Published 2026-10-27 · Keywords: autoinjector price
An autoinjector unit price is a function of exactly four variables — volume band, container format, housing finish and documentation set — plus one Incoterm. That is why honest suppliers quote per program rather than publish one number: a quotation that does not state all five variables is not a quotation, it is a conversation-starter. Here is how the number is actually built, so your team can compare suppliers on the same basis.
The four price drivers
| Driver | How it moves the unit price | What to state in your RFQ |
|---|---|---|
| Volume band | Higher band, lower unit price — step changes, not curves | Annual volume, honestly banded |
| Container format | The device must match the syringe/cartridge; non-standard formats carry adaptation cost | Container type and named syringe supplier |
| Housing finish | Standard → printed → laser-marked → custom colour, in rising order | Finish level (see one-time charges on the customization page) |
| Documentation set | Which certificates, reports and batch documents your market requires | Target market + regulatory route |
The Incoterm (typically FOB a named Chinese port or EXW) shifts cost between the unit price and your freight bill — compare suppliers on the same term or the comparison is noise.
What is included, what is not
A complete unit-price quotation includes: the device, standard packaging, and port loading. It excludes: tooling and setup (one-time — itemized separately), the prefilled syringe and the drug (your fill-finish partner’s scope), freight and insurance, and market-specific batch documentation beyond the agreed set. A price that appears to include the syringe is either wrong or hiding it.
Reading a quotation in ninety seconds
Check five lines: (1) volume band stated; (2) container format stated; (3) housing finish stated; (4) Incoterm and named port; (5) validity date — stated on the document, so your decision window is explicit. Then change one variable and ask for the delta. Real quotations move smoothly; bait quotations reprice from scratch.
We quote per program rather than publish a price list: a single “from” price would have to assume your volume, container and finish, and the assumption would be wrong for most buyers. The four variables are the honest version of the price.
What this does not cover
Landed-cost modelling for your destination port (duty, VAT, local distribution) is available on request and depends on your import entity. Tooling economics are on the customization page; order minimums on the MOQ page.
Next step: send your annual volume, container format, housing finish and destination port — you get a written quotation with all four variables stated and a validity date. Start the inquiry.
